Cindy Lowther Whipple was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas in 1990 and never left. She currently resides in north Austin with her husband and 2 younger children. Her oldest child is a senior in college. She obtained both a Bachelor's and a Master's of Science in Social Work from UT Austin and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Cindy's social work career has covered various types of social services but her true passion is mental health. She worked as a school-based mental health provider for Intervention Services from 2008-2012 where she provided individual and group therapy to students on multiple campuses in east Williamson County. She worked as a psychiatric social worker at the Seton Psychiatric Emergency Department at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin from 2014-2017. Currently she is employed at Baylor Scott and White Health Plans managing mental health benefits. She also works part-time at a local hospital emergency room.
